Does anyone know a site I can buy Gemstars from ? I found one on ebay for $169 and the guy selling it said that it will get even more channels than Pansat and that I can plug it right into my Dish Network dish. Is this true ?I just trying to get one cheaper and see if anyone else has used one. I have a Pansat right now, but it keeps getting knocked off line and not working.
I bought mine from a dealer (Gemstar) and I too have worked with and installed both. To me they are basically the same. The Gemstar is much easier to set up than the Pansat (for the average person you don't have to be very technical), my friend had dish network purchased basic service and replaced his dish network receiver with one of these. It worked like a champ, plugs right into the DN dish. All the pay channels you could ask for. Pansat was good for a while but they drop to easy. No one I know has had trouble with the Gemstar's. If you want you can email me and I will send you the info on a distributor. However I don't know if they will be able to beat Ebay's price, but they guarantee their products.
Also you will find a loaded price and an unloaded price on these. ** Do not buy the loaded ones because they usually charge double and it really is easy to do yourself. There is a website you can load the software from and start watching all the channels you want.
