The Wharfedale Achromatic Series loudspeakers combine striking, slim design with custom-installation-friendly features and newly developed drivers that are engineered to deliver superlative sound.
The Achromatic lineup includes two wall-mountable left/right/surround speakers (models WA-S1 and WA-S2); two wall-mountable center-channel speakers (WA-C2 and WA-C4); two floorstanding towers (the WA-T4 and WA-T8) and two powered subwoofers (models WA-8SB and WA-12SB). The loudspeakers are available individually, or as part of the Micro, Basik, Supro, L/C/R or Ultimo system packages for smaller, mid-sized and larger rooms. Prices range from $169 to $599 for individual speaker pairs and from $699 to $1,699 for system packages.
Achromatic Series loudspeakers are sleek and elegant, making them ideal for custom-installation, architectural and designer applications. All models have a stunning piano-black finish with soft leatherette accents. Their slim-profile design complements any flat-panel TV and home decor. The wall-mountable models can be installed either horizontally or vertically using their standard keyhole wall mounts.
“Achromatic” literally means “without coloration” — the sonic design goal of the Achromatic Series. To achieve their clear, neutral, yet expressive and detailed sound, Wharfedale developed new drivers exclusively for the Series. The compact yet powerful 3-inch woofer/midrange driver features an inverted aluminum dome, along with a high-sensitivity, long-throw voice coil that is directly coupled to the edge of the dome via a butyl rubber surround.
The 1-inch soft-dome tweeter utilizes a ferrofluid-cooled, copper-coated aluminum voice coil, to preserve subtle high-frequency nuances and avoid dynamic compression. The powered subwoofers employ composite-cone drivers in reflex-ported enclosures for maximum efficiency and bass output.
All the drivers are closely matched to their enclosures. As a result, crossovers with a minimum of parts can be used, resulting in greater sonic purity and smoother frequency response. The drivers and enclosures are also designed to provide more uniform in-room response and smooth dispersion over a wider listening area.
Unlike many loudspeakers, all Wharfedale models are designed and built completely in-house, from their drivers and internal components to their elegantly finished cabinets. This vertical integration enables Wharfedale to have complete design control over every aspect of every loudspeaker, and ensure unit-to-unit consistency. In addition, the company can manufacture superior-performance loudspeakers at attractive price points and employ materials and techniques that are unavailable to other companies.
Wharfedale Achromatic Series loudspeakers are now available in the U.S.

I just bought this full system of Wharfedale speakers at JB Hi Fi in Sunshine last Friday and set them up on the weekend. A magnicifent system as I’d already done my homework before I bought them. Also I was very lucky to get them at $600 down from $2000 due to end of model sale. The best system I’ve ever had and compliment my Sony Bravia led tv, Yamaha receiver and Samsung blue ray player. Altogether by buying all my components at JB separately I saved a huge 50% off the original prices [mean average when adding all the prices and subtracting the final price from the original]. I’d recommend these speakers to any one and to do their homework by going and dealing with JB. They are very good to deal with, their staff know exactly what they are talking about and will give you good advice and good value by being smart and doing your homework before you go there.
