Anthem recently announced the launch of their Full HD 1080p affordable high-end Blu-ray Disc Player. The Anthem BLX 200 is functionally and aesthetically the perfect match for any Anthem or Anthem Statement-based home theater system. All current formats and discs supported. The BLX 200 features backward compatibility with existing DVD and CD libraries, Spectacular 1080p picture quality with up to 1920 x 1080p screen resolution, HDMI v1.3 with support for Deep Color and x.v Color. Aesthetically, the BLX 200’s sleek styling, brushed aluminum faceplate and Anthem-blue lights mark it clearly as a part of the Anthem team.
The new Anthem BLX 200 Blu-ray Disc Player boasts ultra-fast loading and response time. 1 GB of built-in memory, an Ethernet port and additional 2-GB USB Flash Drive allow fast and easy access to all of the internet-based advantages and additional entertainment offered by BD-Live (Profile 2.0), including the wide-ranging interactivity of BonusView’s simultaneous audio/video streaming. Whether it’s additional behind-the-scenes or deleted video footage for the movie being watched, instant message chats, scheduled chats with the movie’s director, interactive games, movie trailers, it’s all accessible via the BLX 200’s on-screen BD-Live Internet connection.
True 24p
The BLX 200 offers full compatibility with 24 movie frames per second playback. And since most movies are filmed at 24 frames per second, the BLX 200 is able to play back movies in their native format, reducing unwanted artifacts for a true film-like experience at home.
Building on Anthem’s audio heritage, the BLX 200 goes well beyond standard Dolby Digital and DTS audio playback featuring audio decoding and bit stream audio output for Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD. For those with extensive DVD collections, the BLX 200 includes backward compatibility for standard DVD and CD formats (DVD-ROM, DVD-R, DVD-RW, CD and CD-R) with the added benefit of 1080p upscaling through HDMI, improving the picture quality of ‘prior-to-Blu-ray’ DVD collections.
A full 12-bit video pipeline offers low noise and full high-definition motion-adaptive de-interlacing for 1080p60 output. The improved video quality offers a cleaner, smoother and truer-to-life picture, free of visible artifacts. The user-selectable 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i and 1080p output allows DVD to be output at its native 480i resolution, bypassing the BLX 200’s internal de-interlacing, if desired, to allow the use of cutting-edge video processing like that found in Anthem and Anthem Statement A/V processors.
With the BLX 200’s AVCHD support, high-definition home movies burned to a standard DVD in AVCHD format can be played back in high-definition. The BLX-200 player supports BD-ROM, BD-R/RE, DVD-Video, DVD-R/RW, Audio CD, Audio CD-R/RW, MP3 and Digital Photo CD (JPEG).
Connections include a LAN for accessing BD Live. Component and composite video outputs are included and digital optical and coaxial audio outputs allow digital connection of A/V receivers and preamplifiers that don’t support HDMI. The player also has 7.1 PCM audio output via HDMI.
Additional Features of the BLX 200 (see datasheet):
- 12-bit/162-MHz video DACs (digital-to-analog converters);
- Capacitance touch transport control (Play, Pause, etc) buttons;
- External IR Remote ‘IN’ port allows fast and easy integration into existing complete home theater control systems;
- Front-panel USB port to facilitate future firmware updates;
- Comprehensive Remote Control with 2 ‘AAA’ batteries included.
The Anthem BLX 200 Blu-ray Disc Player has an MSRP of $799 and is now shipping in a Black finish.
